Women’s & Children’s Health
Baptist Health Beyond Delivery:
Developing literacy begins at birth. By age three, a child’s brain will be 85% of its adult size, and also, at age three, a child’s vocabulary can predict third-grade reading achievement. What is one of the best ways to ensure children are armed with the knowledge they need to succeed? Reading aloud to that child and giving them access to books.
It is essential to Baptist Health to do everything we can to help our tiniest patients grow up healthy and strong, including their brains. Our Baptist Health Beyond Delivery program, in partnership with the Arkansas Imagination Library (ARIL), will strive to provide every baby born at our Baptist Health Medical Centers in Little Rock and North Little Rock with free, age-appropriate books every month for one year! Currently, the age group with the lowest number of babies enrolled in the ARIL program are one-year-old and younger. Baptist Health has joined forces with ARIL to change that!
Baptist Health delivers more than 5,000 babies annually between our two medical centers in Little Rock and North Little Rock; approximately 40% of these babies are born to families on Medicaid. We seek philanthropic partners to help sustain and grow this impactful program so that one day we can offer these powerful, educational tools for free to every baby born in our medical centers throughout the state.
Join our partnership and help us provide free, age-appropriate books for one year to babies born at Baptist Health, and together, let’s increase childhood literacy rates in Arkansas!

*After the babies in our Beyond Delivery program complete their first year, ARIL will work to transfer each of them to their local county affiliates so they can continue receiving free books until they are five years old.

Breast Health
Baptist Health’s healing ministry for breast health plays an important role in a woman’s overall wellness. Close to 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. The good news is that women whose breast cancer is detected at an early stage have a 93 percent or higher survival rate in the first five years.
Baptist Health Breast Center-Little Rock has been serving women in Arkansas for more than 20 years. We have developed a strong program of services to screen, diagnose, and treat breast disease to help women live long and healthy lives.
There are opportunities to provide support for an array of both preventative services and treatments, including:
- The nurse navigator program, which helps guide cancer patients through their difficult journey, from diagnosis to surgery, surgery to chemotherapy, chemotherapy to radiation, and ultimately to survivorship.
- Women’s services such as mammograms, Automatic Breast Ultrasounds (ABUS), and other ultrasounds
- Items to help patients “look good and feel better” such as scarves, wigs, hats
Care for Our Tiniest Patients
Babies in need of intensive care may spend weeks, or even months, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Little Rock and Fort Smith, before going home. During this time of uncertainty for parents, the Blessing for Babies program provides funding for infants and their families.
Blessings for Babies helps keep parents close to their babies by providing lodging at no cost for families that live 50 miles or more away.
We are proud to partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas and Home for Healing Little Rock to house our NICU families.
