LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Baptist Health Foundation was awarded a grant from the C. Louis & Mary C. Cabe Foundation to support Baptist Health Heart Failure & Transplant Institute. The grant has funded a new electrocardiogram (EKG) machine to diagnose, monitor and detect heart issues like abnormal heart rhythms or enlarged chambers.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Arkansas and the state ranks in the top five nationwide for cardiovascular-related mortality. An EKG machine allows cardiologists to assess and diagnose heart conditions by measuring the electrical activity of the heartbeat. Early detection is important to effectively assess and manage heart failure.
“At Baptist Health Heart Failure & Transplant Institute, every second counts when managing complex cardiac conditions,” said Jeffrey Hartsell, transplant executive director. “This generous support from the Cabe Foundation allows our team to utilize advanced diagnostic technology right when our patients need it most. By enhancing our early detection capabilities, we can intervene sooner, personalize treatment plans and ultimately save more lives in a state heavily impacted by heart disease.”
Patients receiving care at Baptist Health Heart Failure & Transplant Institute have access to the region’s top cardiologists using the most comprehensive set of heart failure management protocols in the state. The new EKG machine replaced aging equipment with a state-of-the-art machine which ensures Baptist Health can streamline clinical workflows and seamlessly integrate heart data directly into electronic health records.
“Baptist Health Foundation is grateful to the C. Louis & Mary C. Cabe Foundation for their continued partnership and investment in the health of Arkansans,” said Janet K. Marshall, chief development officer. “Philanthropy plays a vital role in bringing cutting-edge technology to our hospitals. This grant is a perfect example of how community support directly impacts patient care, giving our cardiologists the tools they need to deliver the highest quality heart care in the region.”
